INFORMS is a large and diverse conference that brings together people from a wide range of scientific disciplines and industries. It offers excellent opportunities for networking, exchanging ideas, and even exploring job opportunities.
When I attended in 2018, AI and machine learning were, unsurprisingly, among the dominant themes. However, the conference covered a broad range of topics, making it easy to find sessions related to optimization, supply chain, management, planning, and many other areas of interest.
Ways to improve the conference: Given the size of the event, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed by the large number of talks, networking opportunities and interviews. I would recommend that attendees, especially early-career researchers and students, have a clear plan before the conference to make the most of their time and experience.
